magistrOS is built by teachers, for teachers. We understand the responsibility that comes with handling educational data. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

magistrOS is proudly built in Spain by a team passionate about helping teachers. As a UK-registered company, we comply with both UK and EU data protection regulations.

Student Data Protection

We do not directly collect data from students or children. magistrOS is a tool for teachers. Any student information in the system comes from teachers who connect their Google Classroom accounts.

Teachers are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate permissions from their schools to use magistrOS with student data. We provide tools to help teachers maintain compliance with school policies and regulations.

Student data is used solely to help teachers track progress and generate educational materials. We never use student data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than supporting teaching activities.

AI & Your Data

Your data is never used to train AI models

The content you create, lessons you analyse, and student data you connect are never used to train or improve any artificial intelligence system.

Private, secure AI processing

magistrOS uses a dedicated, private AI infrastructure. Your data is processed in isolation and is not shared with, accessed by, or visible to any third-party AI providers. We do not send your content to public AI services.

You control AI-generated content

Assessments, reports, and adaptations generated by magistrOS belong to you. You can edit, delete, or export them at any time. We retain them only to provide the service.

What We Collect

Account Information

Name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account when you sign in.
Your preferred language and app settings.

Classroom Data

Class names, student rosters, assignments, and grades you explicitly connect and sync from Google Classroom.
Content you upload for lesson analysis (PDFs, text, URLs).
AI-generated assessments, reports, and lesson adaptations you create.

Usage & Technical Data

Privacy-friendly usage analytics via PostHog (EU). No cookies or persistent identifiers — data is never tied to your identity without your consent.
Technical performance data (page load times, errors) to maintain service quality.

Billing Information

Subscription status and billing history.
Payment card details are handled exclusively by Stripe and never stored on our servers.

Where Your Data Lives

Your data is primarily stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) using Supabase. This ensures compliance with EU data protection standards and GDPR. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access your data

Request a complete copy of all personal data we hold about you.

Correct your data

Update or fix any inaccurate information in your account.

Delete your data

Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data.

Export your data

Download your data in a portable format to take elsewhere.

Object to processing

Opt out of certain data processing activities where applicable.

Withdraw consent

Disconnect Google Classroom or revoke permissions at any time.

How Long We Keep Data

Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active and you continue using magistrOS.

After account deletion: When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymised analytics may be retained for product improvement.

Billing records: We keep billing records for 7 years as required by UK tax law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify you via email or through the app. We encourage you to review this page periodically. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when changes were last made.
